Pre Press

Prepress is the first step in the Giclée making process. To prepare the image for printing, the image is first scanned into a computer to create a digital file:

  • If the original is small enough, it can be scanned directly into the computer on a flatbed or drum scanner.
  • If it is larger, we will shoot either a 4" x 5" or an 8" x 10" transparency (or you may furnish the transparency yourself), and then scan it on a drum scanner.
  • If the image is not highly textured or detailed, we may work directly from a digital file, provided it is shot by a professional. (We cannot use artwork shot from a personal digital camera.)
